Public Art Furniture Co. is an independent furniture shop at 1102 Eddie Robinson Sr Dr in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We offer functional-art solid wood furniture — sculptural benches, tree bookshelves, live edge coffee tables, root-form consoles, record stands and floor lamps — built to order and shipped free across the United States.

What we are, and are not

We are a furniture shop. We are not a museum or gallery, we do not exhibit or sell artworks, and we are not affiliated with any museum or arts organization.

Our name describes what we like: furniture with the presence of a sculpture that still does an everyday job — seating, storage, a place to set a cup.

Why solid wood

Carved curves, roots and live edges only last in solid hardwood. It can be re-oiled and lightly repaired, so a sculptural piece keeps its shape for decades.

Louisiana humidity is tough on veneers and particleboard. Solid wood with a good oil finish handles it with simple care.
